Pumps and motors are manufactured by many different companies and come in different horsepower’s and sizes. As with all our products, Buckhead Pool Service installs only those pumps and motors from reputable and established manufacturers. All our pumps and motors come with a one year manufacturer’s warranty.

The pump and/or motor installed on your pool is one of the most important pieces of equipment. This unit powers the flow of water to and from your pool day in and day out. Cheap motors and pumps tend to perform poorly and break often. Be fore-warned! There is nothing worse than lack of circulation in the freezing cold months of winter or in the algae growth days of summer!

The word pump is used to include a complete unit. This includes not only the pump but the motor as well. In many instances replacement of the pump is not necessary and a new motor will get you up and running. Different types of pumps perform different functions. For the purposes of pool and spa ownership there are three main types:

  • Pool Pump: The pool pump is the main unit responsible for water circulation
  • Booster Pump: This unit is normally used to provide power to an automatic cleaning unit or to power spa jets.
  • Submersible Pump: These units, as the name suggests, sit under water and either circulate (water falls) or remove water (solid covers) from an area.

Pump Problems

Pumps come in several different horsepower’s. When the pump motor starts to go bad, more often than not, there will be the sound of grinding or squealing. Once this sound occurs it will get progressively worse and the unit may last a few days or a few weeks before stopping completely.

Our Technical Repair Division can assist you with the repair, replacement or service of either your pump and /or motor and have you up and running in no time at all. For more information or to schedule an appointment please call or email our office.
